Free & open to public
The “Choral Showcase” will feature voices from Lake Michigan College, Southwestern Michigan College, The Southwest Symphony Chorus and Chorllenium. The Chorllenium is a new choir formed of mostly area choir teachers and professional vocalists. Each college choir will perform solo selections and then join with the Symphony Chorus in performing John Rutter’s “Requiem” with orchestral accompaniment. The choirs’ singing selections ranging from Jake Runestad's "Nyon Nyon" to Z. Randall Stroope's "Odysseus and the Sirens". The combined chorus will also sing Mendelssohn's "Verleih Uns Frieden," or “Grant Us Thy Peace”.
“This will be a great concert. We had a choral showcase concert with the School Choirs and Symphony Chorus last year which was very successful. It was great to hear the choirs from the different parts of the community” says, Lake Michigan College’s choir director, James Kraus.
The performance is free and open to the public. Contact the Lake Michigan College performing arts department at (269) 927-8876 to learn more about the college’s music and theatre programs.
