Lake Michigan College is offering a week-long “Lake Effect Summer Musical” theatre camp for high school students on its Benton Harbor Campus from July 23 – 27. Campers will experience an intensive week of theatre production classes and workshops covering stagecraft, theatre tech, vocal and band music, acting and dance. Campers will end the week by performing the hit musical, “In the Heights,” on the Mendel Center Mainstage.​

 

The modern storyline surrounds a vibrant Latin American community in New York City on the brink of change. The show’s modern, rhythmic, rap and Latin style music and lyrics were written by Lin-Manuel Miranda of “Hamilton” fame. The production has won four Tony Awards and a Grammy since it hit Broadway in 2008.

 

“In the Heights” will be performed on The Mendel Center Mainstage on July 28 at 8 p.m. and July 29 at 3 p.m. Buy your tickets today!

 

$15 adults $10/senior plus additional ticketing fees.  Free for students 18 years old and younger, and LMC Students with current ID. Student campers will receive two complimentary tickets.​
