Performances & Events

Fans of live performance in the region have come to know The Mendel Center at Lake Michigan College as their go-to place for concerts, touring Broadway productions, comedy, plays, dance, and world-renowned speakers. We’ve played host to everyone from former presidents, world leaders, and rock icons to up-and-coming performers from across the country and from right here in southwestern Michigan.

The play centers on a group of educators at a struggling urban high school, who show up for the kids nobody else does. So, when the school is slated for closure at the end of the year, and the weight bears down on the community, students and teachers discover their breaking points.

Based on the story of Genesis, the age-old conflict of parents and children takes the stage in a new adaptation of Stephen Schwartz’s epic and heartfelt musical.  From musical theatre greats, Stephen Schwartz and John Caird, comes a joyous and inspirational musical about parents, children and faith ... not to mention centuries of unresolved family business!
