The Mendel Center at Lake Michigan College has announced three recent new hires and promotions.
Grace Kelmer has been promoted to Director of The Mendel Center Mainstage. She joined The Mendel Center team in 2014. Prior to that, she served as cultural programs coordinator for the University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College’s Rhythm ‘n’ Blue Ash and ARTrageous series and spent three summers working in the programming department at Lakeside Chautauqua. Grace holds a Master of Arts in Arts Administration and an MBA from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, and a Bachelor of Arts in Music and German from Illinois Wesleyan University. She is responsible for the Mainstage season shows, the patron services team of staff and volunteers, ticketing, and coordination of grants and fundraising including oversight of the Arts Factor program.
Sam Hybels joins The Mendel Center as Event Manager. In this role he will schedule, plan, and execute events with internal and external Mendel Center clients along with processing event contracts, deposits, client invoicing, and collection of accounts receivable. Sam’s experience includes an extensive background in catering sales, along with banquet and event management as well as new concept development. His education and qualifications include certification as a chef from the Pennsylvania Culinary Institute, experience from the Culinary Institute of America in Sicily, Italy, classes at Western Michigan University, and service to our country in the United State Army.
On July 2, Stephanie Steele took on the new role of Event Services Manager at The Mendel Center. She is responsible for scheduling event staff and support vendors, as well as supervising and training Mendel Center Operations event team members. She previously worked at The Mendel Center for three years as a part-time event supervisor and has held numerous office manager and sales positions with other companies.
