Annual Holiday Collage Concert scheduled for Dec. 6

Annual Holiday Collage Concert scheduled for Dec. 6

The Lake Michigan College Visual & Performing Arts Department presents its annual Holiday Collage Concert at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6 in the LMC Mendel Center Grand Upton Hall on the Benton Harbor Campus.

In a warm and inviting dinner theatre-like atmosphere, audience members will be treated to a festive celebration of the season when Visual & Performing Arts ensembles come together. Attendees will also enjoy light refreshments.

The evening features performances by the LMC Concert Choir and Vocal Chamber directed by Rebecca Derbas-Selvidge, the LMC Jazz Band directed by Danny Lopez, the LMC Instrumental Ensemble directed by Dr. Abigail Koo, and dramatic readings from theatre students under the instruction of Dr. Patrick King.

“Holiday Collage has grown each year to truly become a Lake Michigan College tradition,” stated Dr. Robert Lunn, Department Chair of Visual & Performing Arts. “The collaboration between our ensembles and the collective talent of our students always makes this a wonderful showcase that captures the spirit of the season.”

In lieu of paid admission, a donation to the Red Hawk Refuel Pantry is suggested. The Red Hawk Refuel Pantry has been established to combat student hunger at Lake Michigan College. Shop the Amazon Wish List or make a monetary donation to the LMC Foundation.

About the Lake Michigan College Visual & Performing Arts Department
The Visual & Performing Arts Department allows students to reach new levels of excellence through classroom instruction and public performance. Many programs, including theatre, instrumental and vocal music, and dance, are based in the Lake Michigan College Mendel Center, the only performing arts center of its kind in Southwest Michigan. Here, LMC students have opportunities to study the performing arts in a venue that attracts more than 100,000 patrons annually. Programs including drawing, painting, and graphic design allow students to explore the possibilities in the visual arts.

Auditions are held for select ensembles that perform on the same stages as world-renowned touring acts. Students in any major also have opportunities to audition for Broadway musicals and plays and join two different vocal ensembles, string and wind ensembles, a pop-rock ensemble, a drumline, and a jazz band. One of only two colleges in Michigan to carry the prestigious All-Steinway designation, LMC has a team of highly qualified faculty that bring real-world expertise to the classroom.
