The Lake Michigan College Visual & Performing Arts Department will present three student music recitals during the Spring semester. Each will be held in the LMC Mendel Center on the Benton Harbor Campus, located at 2755 E. Napier Ave. Performance dates are:
- Friday, March 3, Room F-125, noon
- Friday, April 14, Hanson Theatre, noon
- Friday, April 28, Hanson Theatre, noon
Faculty presenting students are Dr. Robert Lunn (guitar and composition), Rebecca Derbas-Selvidge (voice), Alexandra Lee (piano), Charles Reid (voice), Don Savoie (guitar), Marla Matthews (voice), Edward Randles (string bass), and Sara Churchill (violin).
During recitals, LMC music students perform a range of solo works including classical, folk, Broadway, jazz, rock, and pop repertoire. Each recital is a different program and a great way to de-stress on a Friday afternoon.

The Visual & Performing Arts Department allows students to reach new levels of excellence through classroom instruction and public performance. Many programs, including theatre, instrumental and vocal music, and dance, are based in the Lake Michigan College Mendel Center, the only performing arts center of its kind in southwest Michigan. Auditions are held for select ensembles that perform on the same stages as world-renowned touring acts. Students in any major also have opportunities to audition for Broadway musicals and plays and join two different vocal ensembles, string and wind ensembles, a pop-rock ensemble, drumline, and jazz band. One of only two colleges in Michigan to carry the prestigious All-Steinway designation, LMC has a team of highly qualified faculty that bring real-world expertise to the classroom.
