PART OF THE LAKE MICHIGAN COLLEGE SPEAKER SERIES
HANSON THEATRE - GENERAL ADMISSION SEATING

During his Lake Michigan College Speakers Series presentation, “Truth in History, Patience in Grief” Tim Brown shares his powerful story of survival and loss and of the heroes and horrors of 9/11.

Tim is a retired, decorated 20-year New York City Fire Department firefighter, a survivor of the 2001 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center, a first responder to the 1993 terrorist attack on the WTC, and a veteran of the New York Urban Search & Rescue Task Force team that responded to the 1995 terrorist attack on the Alfred P. Murrah federal building in Oklahoma City. Tim lost 93 of his friends on Sept. 11, including his two best friends.

Following his last FDNY assignment with Rescue Co. 3 in The Bronx, Tim was Supervisor of Field Operations for four years in Mayor Giuliani’s Office of Emergency Management. Tim spent two years on special detail to the federal government, serving as a special assistant to the Secretary of Health and Human Services. While with the HHS Public Health Emergency Preparedness group, he was a founding member of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Through his role with HHS, he assisted Rhode Island Governor Don Carcieri with victim identification and creating and managing the family assistance program in the aftermath of the Station Nightclub fire that killed 100 people in 2003. He advised the Governor for nearly two years and helped Rhode Island rebuild its homeland security and emergency management organizations.

Since 2012, Tim has served on the U.S. Department of Defense’s 9/11 Prosecution Task Force in the case United States vs. Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, et al. He is liaison to the 9/11 families, survivors, victims, witnesses, and other government entities for the lead prosecutor. He maintains a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information clearance.

Tim has been a leader in defending the memory of those lost on 9/11 at Ground Zero. He is a media commentator on the subject, appearing on Fox News, CNN, MSBNC, and CNBC; dozens of local news programs; and in documentaries.

Lake Michigan College Ticket Delivery Methods
The LMC Mendel Center offers two ticket delivery options:

  • E-tickets to print at home or display on your mobile device when you arrive at the event
  • Will Call tickets to be picked up at the box office up to 90 minutes before your event

When you choose the e-ticket option, you will receive immediate confirmation of your purchase. Your actual e-tickets will be sent 48 hours before the event. This is a growing practice in the live event industry to help protect patrons by discouraging fraudulent and price-inflated ticket reselling activity.

To protect your purchases, always buy Mendel Center tickets directly through the Mendel Center at www.TheMendelCenter.com.

Purchasing tickets from third parties
We strongly recommend that you to purchase Mendel Center event tickets directly from the Mendel Center. If you purchase tickets from a third party (ticket broker, reseller, private party, etc.), you assume all risks related to that transaction. The Mendel Center cannot guarantee the authenticity of tickets purchased from third parties. If an event is canceled or postponed, all communication will go to the ticket buyer of record in the Mendel Center's ticketing system. You must work directly with that third party for a refund. The Mendel Center is only able to make refunds or apply account credits to those parties who originally purchased the tickets from us. Tickets purchased through third parties do not count toward series discount status.
